Birstall & District Art SocietyMore about us From little acorns - mighty oaks will grow ! That was the dream of Norman Sims some years ago when he envisaged developing an art club for the benefit of his art students and friends, to meet and discuss the finer points of painting and sketching. During the Spring of 1995 he planted his
little acorn and the first official meeting of the
newly formed Art Club was opened. Very soon a supporting group
of people who were committed to sharing this dream, helped plant
the Birstall and The Society has enjoyed steady growth and benefits from the support of eighty enthusiastic members, which also extends to a limited waiting list. Norman now has the enviable position of being able to relax and take pleasure from being President of his Society. The boundless energies of the committee reflect in the absorbing list of interests now provided for the benefit of our membership. We are a mixed ability group sharing a common interest, where we all help each other and where the very beginner is as welcome as the professional artist. Members hail from many parts of the North East of the county.
